DVR Box

DVR and NVR are the two most common types of CCTV recording systems, and the difference between them affects how your cameras connect and what kind of footage quality you can expect.

DVR (Digital Video Recorder)

A DVR typically works with traditional analogue cameras connected by coaxial cable. Video is sent to the DVR as an analogue signal and converted to digital for recording.

NVR (Network Video Recorder)

An NVR works with IP (network) cameras, which digitise and often compress video at the camera itself before sending it over a network connection to the NVR for recording.

Which is right for you?

This depends on your property, existing cabling, budget and the image quality you’re after. Neither option is universally ‘better’ xe2x80x94 it comes down to what suits your situation.
